Arrow roots

Are very high in calories and have relatively more protein than other tropical sources like yams, potatoes, cassavas and plantains. Just like other roots and tubers, they are free from gluten.

Necessary ingredients like spices, onions and tomatoes and other seasonings are used to make the dish delicious. And can be served with chapati(a type of Kenyan flat bread )

contains short-chain fatty acids which help improve nutrient absorption. Fibers found in the banana aids in digestion;helps in preventing constipation and bloating. Has also high levels of vitamin B6 which is important in blood sugar regulation.

Mukimo

Is one of the traditional foods in the Kikuyu community ,and is one among the Kenyan food culture. Its made with mashed potatoes/raw bananas and greens(pumpkin leaves)with corn/beans or peas.

It goes well as a side for stews and grilled meat like “nyama choma”. Every thing is boiled together then mashed hence makes it a healthy meal as it is not in any way cooked with fat which can be harmful to your body.

pumpkins contain anti-oxidants,which helps to slow the aging process, has vitamin A good for eye health, and also pumpkin leaves are considered effective in lowering cholesterol in your body.
